FLEUR EAST

Love, Sax and Flashbacks

ALBUM REVIEW

Hailing from season 11 of The X Factor U.K, with a killer rendition of "Uptown Funk" under her belt, Fleur East is a superstar in the making. She is one of those artists that just KNOWS how to deliver a great pop song and her debut album proves it. "Love, Sax and Flashbacks" has perfectly delivered her memorable pop-star moment, full of playful, catchy songs that will have you bopping and dancing around in no time. Currently dominating our television screens and radio waves is "Sax" - a funky, infectious and packed- full-of-energy leading single that is the ideal introduction to Fleur as an artist. Mark Ronson blessed the world with "Uptown Funk",  and "Sax" has clearly taken inspiration from the popular funk sound, with Fleur successfully making it her own with a pop spin.

WARNING: Highly addictive!

Moving along with throwback sounds, flirty pop gem "Breakfast" will take you back to the 80's, with its bouncy, fun beat and synth-pop spirit. Staying on the sweet and fizzy love song train, "More and More" is the perfect follow up to "Breakfast" and again celebrates the playfulness of synth-pop but with more of a colourful and airy tone. If you're feeling the Whitney Houstan vibes, trust me you are not alone...it is so great.

To avoid repetition and predictabiltiy, Fleur changes the tone with "Paris", "Over Getting Over" and "Baby Don't Dance", by introducing combinations of pop, disco and rap genres. They add a refreshing spunkiness to the album, whilst still allowing you to booty pop and lip synch like the inner diva within. "Never Say When" may get lost amongst the predominately upbeat tracks, however offers a groovier taste of Fleur East and calms you down before "Like That" forces you to dance with your most sassiest attitude. With her evidently powerful vocals, there is a lack of ballads, but all is forgiven as the album is truly hit after hit. The album is electric just like her presence and is a strong debut album that will most definitely produce fantastic live shows.
