CHRIS WATTS
ARTIST TO WATCH

Finished drooling?
Lets be honest here Chris Watts, you are one fine talent.....musically and visually.
From Melbourne, Australia, graphic designer (okay...now he is just showing off) Chris moonlights as a folk/indie-pop artist and has quickly garnered a reputation as a one of the more innovative figures in the folk/indie scene. He kicked off his career in 2014 with the debut album 'Back Down', which offers some catchy tunes and dreamy vocals. There are definite James Bay and San Cisco vibes going on too. Check it out for yourself below. He also went to perform St Kilda and Queenscliff Festivals and was selected to be apart of MTV's Brand New 2015, which includes alumni such as Sam Smith and Jessie J.
However, despite having the IT factor, I think the album lacked depth and edge to stand out amongst the overcrowded folk/indie scene. The songs are mostly bland and a bit wishy-washy for the mainstream audience. BUT....2016 is defintiely the year to watch this charming musician. The recently released single "Let Go" teases a taste of what is to come from Chris, offering more of a pop sound, however remains within his folk/indie roots by maintaining his signature upbeat folk sound alike "Taste" and "Honey" from the previous album.
I for one cannot wait to hear more, but until then we will just have to keep "Let Go" on repeat and maybe his live performance of "Honey" on loop.
